Since the moment I found out I was pregnant, I began to stress over the birth announcement. Let’s face it… owning a stationery boutique and being a graphic designer gives me every option in the world… letterpress, duplexing, liners, envelopes and more. I literally have every option and print method at my fingertips and I knew family and friends were waiting to see what I was going to do. Frankly, the pressure was on and I had to deliver (the baby and the announcement… ha ha ha). There was two things I knew for sure… I wanted to include an animal of sorts (since her nursery has a baby animal theme) and I wanted gold foil. Now I had to design them…
So, first I called my stationery BFF, Dabney Lee and asked to use her Dumbo and Lattice patterns. Then I designed a simple and sweet announcement with the piece de resistance being Piper’s photo taken by Twinkle Twinkle Images. Next up was sending my file over to Real Card Studio, my go to vendor for special projects and the results was a perfect triple duplex announcement with gold foil and metallic envelopes… I couldn’t have been happier. And with matching stationery to complete the set… I was off to the mailbox in no time!
Get read for a workout because I am now obsessed with this tutorial for a sock bun. Even though I have watched the video below 10 times… I am still trying to master the technique. Maybe this will help tone you up just a bit!
You just got a whole lot luckier, because my go-to baby gift, dolls by Blah Blah Kids… just got a heck of a lot cuter (if that is even possible). These adorable knit creatures now have adorable little costumes to dress them up in and with choices like baker, bird and pirate… I’m not sure which to get first! So heads up all you mamas in my life… pretty sure a little knit costumed guy is in your future.
I am writing this letter on behalf of your niece Piper. She has become aware of your carpentry skills and has put in a request for a fabulous playhouse. I have gathered some photos on her behalf which I am promptly forwarding to you. Piper has been quite specific in her needs in her future play home… shutters, window boxes, a real door and a ladder of sorts. Being that Piper is currently not even 3 months old, she has decided to give you a bit of time to come to her with blueprints and specs for her approval. Perhaps her 2nd birthday would be a good goal for a completion date. We look forward to working with you, Uncle Keith.
I must admit… I’m a bit obsessed with little touches of you throughout my wardrobe. While I can’t wear you head to toe without looking like a school bus… I sure do like you in little well placed areas… you just make my heart go pitter patter.
While you are oh so fancy all on your own, I’ve been secretly obsessed with ways to dress you up. Perhaps some frozen berries on a skewer or a champagne cocktail? Maybe even a delightful macaroon with a hint of your bubbly flavor? Yummy – Yummy!
Sometimes you have a funny way of showing someone all your riches. With the economy and digital media being what it is… us stationers have had to honker down and get creative. So know this world… you may be giving me a few knocks lately, but I will keep going, trying and you will be my oyster! Perhaps some subtle hints around me, will remind me to keep kicking ass and taking names!
Today starts Operation Loose the Baby Blubber but in the meantime… this lady needs some new jeans. And while I may be a self confessed label snob, I also needed a reality check as I started trying on jeans with $200 price tags, knowing (well hoping) that I wouldn’t be this size forever. So, I wiped my tears as I looked at the new size on the waistband, picked up my purse and ran myself to the Gap. Not only did I find, a rainbow of colored jeans that made my heart skip a beat… the price tag fit my temporary (please, God) waist band. Note to self… price doesn’t matter… style and fit is much more important!
Sorry, for the unexpected week off from blogging last week. We rushed home to NJ to attend a wake of a family member… so here we all are, two 13 hour car rides later and we are back in action!
Dear Obsessive Compulsive Behavior,
Yes, it is true! I am already gathering ideas for Piper’s first birthday party… even though she is 2.5 months old. What can I say, it needs to be perfect and first on my list is the cake topper… right now, anything on a skewer seems to be winning the race!
