One thing my husband always says is there aren’t a lot of shopping options for men. And when I think about it he is right…. don’t tell him that! Women do have a ton of options when in comes to dressing and decorating… skirts, pants, tights, leggings, heels, flats… well, you get the hint. Men are limited in their personal style options… besides the usual jeans, khakis, t-shirts and leather chairs, they truly don’t have all that much to pick from. So then why is it that us ladies are digging through our men’s closets for inspiration this fall? Maybe it’s because men have had it right for all these years… their clothes are typically comfy and roomy. Isn’t that why we wear their t-shirts to bed? Because they are perfectly worn and soft. Is it because it reminds us of our grandfather in his cardigan sweater smoking a cigar on the front porch? There is something about the scent of cigar smoke that makes me want to run home and cozy up in a cardigan. Does it make us feel more powerful as we compete with men for jobs and raises? They do say shoulder pads were brought on in the eighties as more women entered the workforce. Or maybe it is simply because it reminds us of the ones we love and the warm fuzzies we get every time we see them… the same reason why I spritz myself with my husband’s cologne before I go to work. Whatever the reason, I’m loving how something so masculine when belted, jeweled or spritzed can become so feminine. I love how an old leather arm chair, in all of its manly glory, suddenly becomes my own with a flowered ruffled pillow. So go out there and raid your husbands, boyfriends and dad’s closets. Belt up their oxfords and roll up their jeans and feel like a woman!

This blog is a collection of daily musings that inspires me to create, organize, and dream in my paper boutique, Rock Paper Scissors.

You can say that again. It’s very difficult to find lots of (stylish) choices, but I also agree that most men don’t really need as many options. My own style is pretty classic, so I’m good with J.Crew, Gap, and the Banana…with some Target and Old Navy thrown in for good measure.
It can also be tricky to find awesome paper that’s not overly “masculine” and, like, burgundy.
