Party with a Purpose

Posted On October 7th, 2009

It’s time to Think Pink everyone!  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and its the perfect excuse to have a party with a purpose.  Grab your best girlfriends and give them the best party favor ever… KNOWLEDGE.  Awareness is the key to early detection and it is time for us to take our heads out of the sand and spread the word.  Having a Pink Party doesn’t mean you have to raise money… even though that would be great.  It’s about getting together and reviewing the facts while having fun.  So grab some pink ribbon and put on your best pink party dress and entertain with a cause… you’ll be glad you did!

Pink Party Tips

1.  Be sure to have a bowl of Pink Ribbons by the front door.  This way guests can put them on their lapels right away.

2.  Contact foundations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation and American Cancer Society for important information regarding facts, statistics and resources.

3.  Send your friends away with a “goody” bags of knowledge.  Include cheat sheets on self examination and a reminder card to get their yearly mammography.

4.  Make pink the dress code for the event… it will help everyone get in the spirit and it gives you a reason to shop!

5.  Create a memorial board where friends can write the name of loved ones affected with breast cancer on pink cards.  You’ll be surprised at how many cards and how fast the board fills up.

6.  Think pink when it comes to the food and drinks you are serving.  Kir Royales (champagne and raspberry liquor), Pink Lemonade Cupcakes, Macaroons and Rasberry Mousse Cakes, and Pink Candies are perfect examples.

7.  Send fabulous, sohpisticated pink invitations that don’t have a pink ribbon on them.  I think the pink ribbon can loose its impact and meaning when it is over used.

8.  Use varying shades of pink for your floral arrangements, napkins, and table decorations.
