Dear You,
Want to get to know me better… see the face behind the post? I was featured on the High Gloss Happenings page! And don’t forget… our premiere issue comes out February 1st!
Lauren
Meet Lauren Rauter—High Gloss editor, stationer and graphic designer, and paper proprietress

On a Saturday afternoon, you’d most likely find me…
at my shop, Rock Paper Scissors and begging my husband to pick up cupcakes for a sweet end of the week treat. In between my pleads for sugary goodness, you’ll find me consulting with brides, moms-to-be and birthday girls, helping plan their paper suites for their big days.
I am most inspired by…
other entrepreneurs. I love a good success story and it is a great driving force for both myself and my husband since we both have our own businesses. Knowing their are other dreamers out there who take risks and succeed is not only inspiring but motivational.
I’d love to meet…
this is easy for me…. Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa. What is not to love about this lady? She is an entrepreneur, wife, author and entertainer and she does it all with style and grace. I have been known to pause the television to study her barn and furnishings and never cook a meal for guests without referencing her cookbooks. I am in love with her ease in everything from entertaining and decorating and really see no reason why we wouldn’t be friends… ha ha ha. There may even be a slight stalking episode in my past on a trip to the Hamptons. No worries… nothing creepy…. just went to all of Ina’s local favorites in hopes of catching a glimpse…. to no avail, there was no siting, which is probably best since I would have screamed like a school girl and have to be pried off of her.
Favorite meal…
as you can probably tell from my above comment, my favorite meal is dessert. I consider myself a cupcake connoisseur and their isn’t a little paper wrapped cake that I wouldn’t introduce myself to. If you happen to find yourself in NYC, you must try the peanut butter and jelly cupcake from Buttercup Bake Shop… it is to die for and my very favorite.
Favorite City…
Nantucket is truly my favorite place on earth. While it isn’t a large metropolis with sprawling buildings and the fashion elite… Nantucket has its own sense of New England chic and beachy sophistication which can’t be found anywhere else. True peace can be found on a cool summer day on this Massachusetts island, riding bikes with baskets, smelling the hydrangea and walking the cobblestone streets with my husband.
Signature Scent…
Burberry Weekend… I have worn it for years and anytime I try to sway from it… I always find my way back home.
Style Icon…
Jenna Lyons. Besides the fact that I have J.Crew on speed dial and they know me by name when I walk in my local store… and let’s not even talk about my J.Crew credit card, I love Jenna Lyons personal style. I love her mix and match style sensibility all while being effortlessly chic and while I try very hard to look effortless, I hope I have fooled a few.
My Personal Style is…
if J.Crew married Anthropolgie and had a baby it would be me…. classic with an edge.
Favorite Quote…
My grandmother once said to me, “there is no sense in worrying about something if you can’t change it” True words of wisdom that I try to remember each time I find myself caught up in the midst of worry.
I’m currently obsessed with…
anything British. After a trip in the Fall of 2009 to London with my husband, I just can’t seem to get enough. While Jane Austin has always been one of my favorite novelist, I have continued the stories of the Darcy’s of Pride in Prejudice in a novel series by Sharon Lathan… I swoon over a British accent, royal watch with William and Kate and continue on a quest to find the perfect tea set. Cheers!
The thing I love most about what I do is…
I get to be creative. I don’t know what I would do with myself if I couldn’t design…. it’s as if I get paid to be a dreamer and I love every second of it! Being a stationer means that I am part of the very special events of a person’s life… from their wedding to the birth of their first baby and the birthdays that follow, I have a unique opportunity to help make someones special day better.

This blog is a collection of daily musings that inspires me to create, organize, and dream in my paper boutique, Rock Paper Scissors.

Love your blog. Love your style. Love your sense of humor. Love paper and a pen that writes effortlessly. You’re my Ina Garten.
Barbara… you made my day!!!! Your are so sweet!
I LOVE your stationary work. I also LOVE the wedding invitation in your “about me” collage. I looked on your site to see if you made it but couldn’t find it- who is it by?
Thanks!
Cait
Oh my gosh, so funny about Ina. I have a little story you might like. A few years ago, when I was still in school, I was working at a Sur La Table in SF, and she popped in for some shopping. I had to stop myself from screaming and following her around like a puppy. Talk about stalking — she decided to sign up for our catalog and emails so I TYPED HER ADDRESS INTO A DATABASE. She was so sweet and gracious and very, well…normal!
And for the record, she got a bunch of cookie cutters, including a copper one shaped like the Eiffel Tower.
No wonder I love your blog! We love all the same things! Great getting to know you better.
