I am so excited to feature the workspace of Albertine Press this week, a Boston area design and letterpress studio owned and operated by Shelley Barandes. Named after a friends lovebird, which Shelley bird-sat for a while, the name Albertine comes from a character from Proust’s Rememberance of Things Past. Not only did Shelley fall in love with her literary scholar friend’s bird… she fell in love with the name and new when she started her own company she would name it Albertine Press. A few years later, her dreams came true and she happily created her logo with a bird’s silhouette in honor of her new feathered friend and as they say, “the rest is history!”

So cool! I don’t know what I’d do with one press, much less 9.
