Remember those sweet summer days of your youth, when you were playing in the yard and in the distance you heard the bells of the ice cream truck? What kid didn’t scream at the top of their lungs… “ICECREEAAAMMM”, as you ran inside to beg your mother for some money to buy a Snow Cone or Toasted Almond Bar. Now that I’m older, I may not chase the ice cream truck anymore (well… who am I kidding… if I hear those bells… I’m sprinting), but my fixation on food on wheels has changed a bit.
I am completely obsessed with the newest gourmet food trend of mobile food trucks. Gone are the days of the Good Humor man… we now have experienced foodies selling their treats in well designed, stylish and impeccably marketed vans and trucks. The days of listening for those ice cream bells are over… just check Twitter and Facebook to update you on the where abouts and street locations of your favorite treats. Not to mention, pre-made and packaged ice cream is passe… who wants that when you can have gourmet freshly made snow cones, Belgium waffles and schnitzel’s being sold out of a van window! I am in LOVE!
Since many of these trucks are available for catering, I can’t help but wonder of the possibilities… how fabulous would it be to have a snow cone truck pull up at your wedding or the Belgium waffle truck waiting outside of your bar mitzvah!? I seriously need to think of a party and quick! Is anyone else getting hungry?

What?! Sprinkles on Wheels?! If only in Nashville.
I had seen an article about this (maybe in New York Magazine) a few weeks ago, but I like your post way better. Let me know if any come our way.
Flavourful!
